I was beyond excited at this point and promptly responded to the email saying that I would love to come in to check out their menu and try an absolutely ridiculous salad.

A few days later, the morning after I ate all of those buffalo wings, I decided that I should probably walk down to the Prudential Center (where Tossed is located) instead of getting zero exercise by taking the bus. It was quite the long walk, but I took a few pictures along the way, and blasted a plethora of Rilo Kiley songs.

See the Massachusetts State House off in the distance?
Here's a close up if you can't spot the 23K Gold Dome from that far away.

If you're not from Boston, you probably don't understand the significance of the giant Citgo sign which overlooks Fenway Park. Maybe if you've watched Red Sox home games you've seen it in the background.

Seeing this sign in the distance let's us Bostonians know that we're home.
Almost there!
After a long walk, I finally arrived at the Prudential Center.

I wandered around inside, searching for where Tossed could be. If you have ever been in the Pru, you know how large it is, and if you're not there regularly, you probably know how confusing it can be. I got lost a few times, and years ago I used to work in the Pru! But after a lot of staring at the mall map, I finally figured out where I was going.
I got to Tossed, and stared at the menu for a while. It was so overwhelming looking at all the things I could add to a salad. I had to resist all temptation of saying "Hi, can I just have EVERYTHING on a salad?"
I finally decided on the Summer Salad, only omitting the grape tomatoes... and adding barbecue chicken, pineapples, and bacon. So essentially my salad was lettuce, golden raisins, strawberries, corn, plantain chips, pineapple, bacon, barbecue chicken and cucumbers with a strawberry balsamic dressing. Yeah, I know, right?! I also got a mango-raspberry smoothie.

The salad was delicious. I have never had strawberries and pineapple in a salad, and actually the same goes for the golden raisins and the plantain chips. It's definitely something I am going to attempt to replicate at home sometime. The Strawberry Balsamic Dressing was totally new to me, and is something I am going to be looking forward to the next time I stop into Tossed. And, needless to say, the smoothie was great, too.
All of the staff were extra friendly, and showed a genuine interest in my blogging hobby. This was, for sure, a really fun little project, and I definitely think I am going to be making another stop into Tossed sometime soon - there's so much of the menu I haven't explored yet!
Yummmm! I totally want to go there! They should mail me a salad ;)
ReplyDeleteI bet those plantain chips were fire. That's a pretty awesome idea for a restaurant; salads are only good with at least a dozen ingredients! =)
ReplyDeleteMany thanks.
